Matching motorcycle helmets with bikes is an old idea but hydro dipping them is pretty recent. If you’ve shelled out a bunch of money to customize you’re Harley-Davidson, going the extra step to match the helmet to it is a nice touch.
Custom Spray Mods posts all kinds of information documenting the hydro dipping process, including painting over it with candy pigments. Here’s one of their latest showing how straightforward it is to do up your lid.
Harley’s Delton Sun Shield J04 5/8 Helmet (P/N 98308-17VX, $175.00) comes in matte black but would be simple enough to do using the process above.
The helmet has a fiberglass 5/8 shell design that offers more coverage than a half-helmet but is still very lightweight and open. There’s no chin guard to deal with and the liner is removable, which makes dipping a bit easier.
